Design and Construction Overview
The DutchCraft 56 Cabin is built to a standard of excellence with unimaginable attention to detail. The challenge was designing a yacht for cruising, entertainment, and fishing all-in-one, with the luxurious comfort and amenities of a superyacht in a mid-size motor yacht. It took two hull rebuilds before TUG was born out of a Dutch boatyard in Rotterdam, Netherlands!
Apart from the brilliant use of space and luxurious comfort, the yacht had to have the ability to get to the fishing grounds before any other yacht and be able to compete in any fishing tournament with vigor, finesse, and durability a notch above all others in the DC56’s class. Engineered to take on challenging seas, her ride is stable, comfortable, and thrilling with Volvo Penta IPS950 inboards that can easily reach 38+ knots!
The hull and superstructure material is fiberglass infused with vinylester resin in a cored sandwich for lightweight strength. Build, exterior design, and engineering with sound and vibration control is by DutchCraft. Naval Architecture is by Mulder, luxury yacht builders since 1938. Built with a European CE-A rating and USCG certification.
Vessel Walkthrough
Starting with twin Volvo 1350 HP turbo engines to Seakeeper 9, Humphrey stabilizers, 16 Garmin screens, 3kW fish finder, autopilot, fish box, ice makers, water makers, live bait wells, IPS controls, bow thruster, extra fuel tank, 1200 nm range, ultra-super speeds and a comfort finish that allows you to fight a blue marlin while at the same time guests enjoy a martini in the wheelhouse without being aware of the action outside…or observe from a comfortable outside seat!
The DC56 Cabin has the same features as the DC56 Open but is enclosed to provide protection from the elements and climate control. Having the largest windshield for a yacht of its size, TUG offers incomparable views. Accessing the various social spaces is safe and easy with handholds, and sturdy railings, and high forward freeboard. It’s a perfectly versatile yacht for all boating activities.
The spacious flybridge features a dining table, with seating that converts to a large aft sun pad. There is a wet bar and double-wide seating at the helm console. The main deck has an additional dining table, wet bar, double-wide lower helm seating, and large sun pads on the foredeck for relaxed lounging at anchor or a thrilling view when underway. In total, there is seating for up to 36 guests onboard.
With the transom dropped down to the waterline, the vast aft cockpit deck space lends itself to all manner of uses, from fishing platform to socializing space to stowage place for toys and watercraft – even a submersible. To the sides of this deck, two large benches conceal oversized locker units (19.7ft x 5.4ft and 9.8ft x 5.4ft) that provide storage for watersports gear and other items, on a scale that is practically unheard of in this yacht class. Approximately 16 full diving sets can be stored here, or any kind of watersports equipment from surfboards and SUPs to wakeboards and inflatable slides. For fishing enthusiasts, the huge cockpit area features an 8-rod rocket launcher with bait tray and 2 cup holders on stainless-steel pedestal; bait well and fish boxes are built-in. Eight drawers for tackle and other equipment are built into the cockpit forward bulk head along with two large Garmin displays.
A few molded steps on each side lead up to the main deck’s exterior aft deck with opposing bench seats and table, sheltered by the bridge overhang. A drop-down TV provides entertainment. The galley’s aft bulkhead window opens for pass-through service to the aft deck for al fresco dining and cocktails. Should you need to access the engine room quickly and easily, the electronically actuated aft deck hatch can be opened in an instant.
The fully equipped aft galley is ideally positioned to service the main deck raised dinette with seating on 4 sides around a large square table on double chrome pedestals. Two overhead TV screens drop down for viewing from all seating positions. The pilothouse style lower helm with wrap around windows offers optimal visibility and a 360-degree view in the salon.
On the lower deck, there is modern, comfortable, and easily maintained accommodation for up to eight guests in four cabins (or 6 guests plus 2 crew), including an en-suite full-beam master cabin with 70’ OLED TV. There are a total of three large heads with shower stalls on the lower deck, and dedicated laundry space with LG washer/dryer. Particular attention was given to headroom on the lower deck, while noise and vibration have been minimized for comfort underway. Lower level is accessed via staircase in galley area. Aft crew quarters feature over/under bunks and an aft window to cockpit. Accommodations are beautifully appointed and comfortable. A long horizontal hull-side window provides plenty of natural light.
